MACKEYVILLE — Kiddies Day, held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, was a big hit this year at the Clinton County Fair!

Sponsored by Dotterer Equipment and Horizon Federal Credit Union, Kiddies Day — a day filled with various crafts, activities and animal petting — brought so much joy to so many kids.

Kids from the surrounding area traveled to the grounds for a day filled with much excitement. Daycares, babysitters, parents and grandparents accompanied their kids for an unforgettable day.

Starting at 10 am, kids were able to roam the fairgrounds — checking out the stables, visiting with local law enforcement officers and stopping by each booth to learn a little something new.

Stables held a variety of goats, sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys, cows and bunnies for kids to pet with care. The baby animals, in particular, were a huge crowd pleaser.

“Awe…he’s so cute,” a bunch of the kids expressed when petting the various animals.

Kids were then visited by the PA State Police, local first responders and EMS workers. They were able to ask daring questions, climb into the special vehicles and learn all about what local law enforcement jobs entail.

Some of the most popular questions for the local law enforcement officers included, “What does this button do,” “How do you make the siren go off,” and “How do you spot a bad guy?”

Some of the booths, stationed in the commercial building, held YMCA information, displayed furs provided by the PA Game Commission, offered both insect and farm animal crafts and read stories to kids who wanted to listen, provided by Ross Library.

Kiddies Day chairs, Sunshine Kustaborder and Dana White, want Clinton County Fairgoers to “Stay tuned for next year’s Kiddies Day,” as they have a lot of fun things in store!

Fire Co., the Clinton County Dental Clinic, DCNR, Master Gardeners, STEP, the YMCA, the Child Health Study from Penn State, the Lock Haven Kiwanis and the Clinton County Fair Queen for all of their efforts to put on Kiddies Day this year .
